Additions

Today I was tasked with the mission (should I have an option NOT to accept it):

Create a directions page to our office, from the M606 and from Leeds city centre…

I think I did a reasonable job:

Directions

I also have another mission – having installed a multi-monitor solution, I need a multi-monitor sized box thing to stand them on.
They are a little low at the moment – Get out the big boys tools and save myself a lot of neck ache (this of course does not in any way refer to a pain in the neck ;) )

My creation was truly a masterpiece to behold – actually a simply wide ‘n’ shape was what was finally produced…
It’s good though, and performs brilliantly. I guess that’s the main criteria fulfilled then.

:D

PHPain

So I thought I’d give this PHP programming thing a go – and create my own online book database. I read LOTS and get so annoyed when I accidentally buy a book I have already read. (This happens too often!)

Online db here I come… (I was so enthusiastic!)

Designs a good layout
Created the pages and creative elements
Learn how to get PHP to do the stuff I wanted
Created a PHP script to create the database how I want it
Run script – OK (Now I have a database)
Runs the ‘Enter a new book’ page – NOTHING! :(
Spends almost an entire day getting nothing but a head full of stress.

Tor sends me to the bank to cool off…

Once home, a pint of cooling water and an episode of CSI in a darkened room – peace descends at last.
(needed drugs for the headache though!)

Effin’ PHP…

New stuff

Today I got to play with a bender…
That would be a machine for bending stuff :D
I’d never attempted to install one of these, but our ‘specialising’ in manufacturing companies means I get to play with all sorts of exciting machinery – and install them :)
It all went swimmingly right up to the point of getting it onto the network – despite everything I could think to do, it refused to get the correct network details.
Replaced the network card (I happened to have one with me) and voila – all working

I am good!!

We are also just about to launch another website, the school uniform one.
It’s been a little pain at times but we are just about there.
Tomorrow should be the go live date.
Fingers crossed…

:D

Boredom

Today we (Tor and I) spent MOST of the day entering data for a clients website.
This was incredibly tedious – dull dull dull! :?:
It does mean however, that the site will be launched will a full range of products available – and online ordering from the outset. :)

Also, we are the people to ask if you want school uniforms ;)

I was AMAZED to discover some of the sizes some items go up to! There were one or two items that would be too big for me!

It’s not good for the old grey cells though – I think most of mine have declared a cease fire and migrated south to warmer climes.

Found this on the BBC website - Police ‘encouraged’ to hack more
Now this is seriously scary!
It would appear that Police now have the power to hack into any body’s PC to “prevent or detect serious crime”

British law already allows police to remotely access computers under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000, which allows surveillance to “prevent or detect serious crime”.

It’s getting worse, Police state or nanny state – you decide…
