Day Three – Busy

Busy, busy, busy little bee!

Busy, busy, busy little bee!

It’s been a right busy day!
(This is mostly a good thing)

The main issue of the day, was a reinstall of the EDI software we resell. Onto a new PC.

It was in actuality a replacement PC, rather than a new one, but the effect is the same.

T’was a most satisfying day – I get a great buzz when things work right.
I was installing a Microsoft Exchange server at the same clients last week – that too went swimmingly.
The client is one of those better ones too – they ask our opinion on technical things and LISTEN too. Usually they go with what we recommend, this means their systems work properly and with the best efficiency too!
It’s also a position of trust on our behalf too. We like to do the best for them – NOT betraying that client/supplier trust.
They’ll get better service for it too :D

On the + side, I still have a business!
It’s not all gone horribly wrong with Tor being away (I suppose there is still time yet  )

Don’t you think this is a great photo? I really like it!

Bedtime…

Day Two – Creativity

Creating stuff for the website

Creating stuff for the website

It’s the second day of Torlessness (Not a real word methinks), and it was a quiet one.
A couple of phone calls – one with an email account problem, one with a printer install problem.

The rest of the day was filled trying to design our new website.
The design has to be simple and clean, and be able to be chopped up for the CMS system that’ll be powering it.
It also has to be WordPressable (another new word!), so I can have some consistancy with the blog.
I came up with a couple of ideas, but nothing really grabbed me.
It’s hard trying to come up with something – I’m a bloomin’ engineer, not a designer!
Here’s hoping something grabs me later on this week…

All in all it was nice to have a quiet day :D
I even got time to have some lunch!! Something almost unheard of recently!!

Day One – Survival

First priority - survival

First priority - survival

#Read in a deep, dramatic voice#

Day one of the term without Tor.

Survival the no.1 priority.

Kept my head down and did the necessary – the day was long and fraught with potential catastrophe, but we prevailed.

One emergency – a client not able to print –  had the hackles rising and fear pulsing through the veins.
Solved with a quick phone call and lightning fast thinking…

#End dramatic voice#
That’s enough of that rubbish!!

Popped over to a client who seems to have endured an outbreak of pregnancy. 2 staff members returning from the old maternity leave.
My mission was to reconfigure them back into the network – emails, shares, printers and software – you get the picture…
I did get an unusual problem with some HBOS software not playing. I made the helpdesk jockey’s day when I told him I was technical – thus reducing a 10 minute problem to less that 2 minutes :D

Went over to see another client – the young lady there was saying all her friends are having/had babies and have no lives any more.
I remember when that happened to me, suddenly you have no friends to drink with anymore. They are all in changing nappies and cooing at junior.

I’m old :(
