Tor’s back – sanity reigns!

Everything is back to normal. :)

Today was a good day; We got LOTS done too – I guess Tor’s holiday has left her somewhat invigorated.
This can only be a good thing…

Driving around was a little odd today too – the roads near us were unnaturally quiet.
I can only guess that half of Leeds and Bradford are still on holiday.

I was called to see a client of ours with an issue with Microsoft Office – solved with a reinstall – Whilst there I had an interesting conversation…
The girl who works there is Polish (and gorgeous!), and when I enquired as to the status of her health, she said she was ‘cold’ – I took this to mean temperature – on further inquiry, she said that she’d attended a barbecueover the Easter weekend and wasn’t there NAKED!
My mind was now filling in the blanks… :eek:
What she meant was, she had caught a Cold, probably because she’d been to this barbecue, even though she’d been wearing lots of clothes!

Oh how I laughed!!
I guess the meaning was somewhat lost in translation…

One of my clients is moving into some offices – for this they decided to have a moving in party.
One of the girls in the office was tasked with calling potential guests. A task she duly started out at…
On the list of guests was a Mr. X of X Associates (fire prevention) – written on the list as:
“firstname, lastname” Ass. fire prevention
The girl doing the calling asked for Mr. X from ‘Ass fire prevention’!
Ass fire prevention?? – now that sounds like an interesting job!
We laughed and laughed and laughed!
The girl later admitted that she’d tried dialling a client on her calculator AND when called by a client, tried answering her mouse!
She WAS blond too…
Sometimes this stuff just writes itself.

Further news on the boiler front – a friend of a friend popped over to give me another price – hopefully one I can repeat without laughing or falling over…

Further news on the ‘Old clients contacting us’ front too – A young lady we used to look after (about 4 years ago) called. I’m going there tomorrow :)

I like when clients seem to get the idea.
This morning Tor had a meeting with networking guy, who was asking for some feedback.
All went well and turned to what we do – a lengthy conversation ensued…
During the conversation, his website popped up as a topic and so we launched some potential ideas as to things he might find interesting (things like automated delegate lists, email reminders and confirmations, auto generated badges etc.)
There was one of those “eureka” moments as he started to realise the potential of the web to automate most of his business, freeing him up to develop the business itself

It struck me as odd the other day – Life must be OK, as I haven’t had anything to rant about for a bit!
The Infamy that the occasional moan about service, BT, or some other disdainful aspect of life, has diminished alarmingly.

Some might say I no longer qualify as a ‘grumpy old man’!
Some might even go so far as to say this is a good thing!
Nay nay say I 

I am sure, in this my chosen industry, that it is simply a matter of time before some quirk of the gene pool decides that there is more fun to be had throwing hand tools into the gears of life
There are more of them, than us, after all

I shall remain steadfast – trusting in the facetious nature of humankind. Secure in the knowledge that some intellectually challenged, evolutionary experiment will royally screw up something simple.

We live in hope…
