Bad apple?

Image of an eaten apple

Have Apple taken too big a bite of others patented technology?

So, Apple – the company who, for some reason, command almost religious devotion to their products fall foul of patent infringement:

Apple faces $600m damages claim Oh how I laughed!

It seems that Apple, whom I personally think haven’t released anything original in years, have finally been uncovered for allegedly stealing others patented technology.
In this case FOUR times!

Now Apple say that there was sufficient doubt over the contents of the patents to believe that they were not valid ~ the courts thought otherwise.
That means that Apple were fully aware that they were using somebody else’s ideas but thought that they could get away with it.

Oh dear
Caught with their hands in someone else’s cookie jar. I feel a DONKEY AWARD coming on…

Too bad really, just another blow to the company that brought you a phone that couldn’t make calls ;)

lol…

(better add that this is my opinion – before the lawyers call ;) )

Unlucky theif

Lets hope the unlucky thief accidentally fell down several flights of stairs repeatedly

Time for another “Donkey Award”…

This made me laugh:
San Francisco’s unluckiest thief

It seems that some idiot riding a bicycle, decided to grab an iPhone that was being held by a woman on San Francisco street. This he did and sped off down the road… :ninja:

Unfortunately the thief didn’t know that the iPhone was being used as a test for some real-time tracking software – what are the chances eh?

The woman, rushed in to the office (the incident happened just outside), reported the theft, and the IT guys calmly directed the police directly exactly to where the thief was located. :cop:

Ha!

“You’re nicked sonny Jim…”
“Clap him in irons – you’re goin’ dahn son”

Victory image

Finally! IT WORKS!!

So it took a little lateral thinking but IT WORKS!!

Backtrack a little to the issue I was having with an ePOS system (an electronic cash register).
~ original post here ~
The d**n thing wouldn’t communicate to it’s control software in the head office.

The Head Office being in a totally different part of Leeds.

This morning I got it working :D
The sense of elation was almost overwhelming
Sad but true…

Anyone wanting ePOS till systems with remote reporting give us a call ~ 08456 340 599

Did you know that Microsoft are being banned from selling the Word software package?

Forgive the image - it's there for two reasons, see if you can guess the second..!

Forgive the image - it's there for two reasons, see if you can guess the second..!

I know it’s a bit of a risqué image but it serves a two fold purpose.

Today, Tor got a call from a long standing client of ours. We’ve looked after their Internet and website hosting for years.
These are the only services we give them though ~ they have actively refused our offers of support and we are happy with the status quo (they seem to have no interest in investing in their IT systems either ~ suffice to say their systems are OLD!).

Today’s call was about an iPhone.
Something we have configured from time to time, as people seem to like “pretty pretty” toys with no regard to their technical merit (cynical iPhone hater here). It works fine with our email systems though.
Apparently, the support engineer who the client chooses to use can’t get the iPhone working with our SMTP server. :(

Why oh why the client thought we’d sort this out is beyond me..!
We provide email services for sure, but the configuration of the iPhone is a little outside this methinks.
The best/worst of it was it’s the PAID engineer who can’t get it working and it was he who called us!!

This the same engineer who couldn’t restore the clients server without our help either (on that occasion we pointed him in the right direction ‘cos it was causing the client lots of pain). :???:

Tor told him where to get off ~ politely of course. ;)

It’s a strangely amusing world out there..!

Faster than a speeding pigeon?

Is this the future of broadband in South Africa?

Is this the future of broadband in South Africa?

Ever feel as if your broadband is getting really slow..?
Heard the comment “It’d be faster by carrier pigeon”?
One company in South Africa put that to the test!

SA pigeon ‘faster than broadband’
#This HAS to be one of the best stories I have read in a long time# ;)

Well, it seems that a company in South Africa got so fed up with their slow broadband, they set up a race between a carrier pigeon laden with a memory stick, and their ADSL downloading the same file.

THE PIGEON WON BY A LONG WAY!

Fantastic!
