Peace

Tor is back! :D

Good!!

I managed to get somewhere today without the mentalness that was last week!

Delivery

Today was quite a simple day really – helped out a new client with a Blue Screen of Death (Known as a BSOD), and built a server.

#RANT#
I had to leave early as I was expecting a delivery at home.
I had paid extra for a 17:00 – 20:00 delivery from Dixons (Via Business Post)
17:00 arrives, patience begins.
21:00 arrives, patience stops.
A phone call to Business Post – “The item was collected from Nottingham @ 17:28 and probably wont be delivered until Monday now”
Time to get my complaining head on.
It really sickens me that the levels of service in the UK are getting worse (even the Indian food we ordered later on was late)

Grr…..

Wasted

Today, among the mental state that ensues when Tor goes on holiday, I went to a meeting down near Castleford. About 3/4 of an hour from the office.
Waited patiently for 30 minutes.
Asked a friend to look at my online diary and get me the potential clients phone number.
A call to potential client – voicemail
Left for my next call

What a waste of my time

3 other calls to perform and my day is over ;)

Workman

A short interlude back into my past today – as an electrician!!
Not sure if you guys know (or care), but I am a fully qualified electrician
Guilds and all!

Just one of the many guises I have worn over the past few centuries of my mortal existence.

Working on a building site – I installed a couple of rack based networks into a new serviced office building.
A little before they should have been installed IMHO, but the client needed them in so…

I looked soooo cute in my little overalls - complete with official dirt from actual jobs, I’ll have you know ;)

Lets just hope that the insecurity of the site and the inherent problems with dust and ‘accidents’, don’t conspire to mean I’ll have to resupply the stuff…

Only time will tell…

Desperate

Desperate – that’s the only reason I can guess at for one of my competitors attempting to charge for some work that wasn’t asked for.
One of our clients wants to use a reputable delivery company’s warehouse to store some stock – this has been agreed already. Sounds simple so far.
Our client wants to use a terminal in the new warehouse to access the data systems in their own warehouse. Still with me?
Our client wants to also use this PC (in the new warehouse) to book in stock once it arrives at the new warehouse.
The other peoples IT support just decided to configure a remote printer – mail me the details of this – then attempt to charge £85 for it!
ALL BEFORE ANYBODY ASKED FOR ANYTHING AT ALL!

Not a bad return for something that probably took all of 5 minutes either ;)

Maybe I should re-examine my pricing

Idiots…
