I love technology

Whilst browsing t’ Internet the other day, there came from the direction of the PC and the radiator an unearthly scream.
Now this could have been a whistle of water through the pipes OR a thermal alarm on the PC (funnily they sound VERY similar).
So, taking the proverbial bull by the horns, I stuck my posterior in the air and ventured in to the darker corners of my study – exactly patiently awaiting the call of their prey ;)
Of course this meant that there was no ear splitting yell :(
Cramp set in (I AM getting old :( )
Then the video card scrambled the screen, thus solving the mystery of the ungodly noise, and raising the unusual feelings of good (I had found the issue) and bad (the effin’ video card is over heating).
PC taken to office
Dismantled, cleaned and rebuilt.

It appears to be cool again

David and Goliath

Today we struck a blow for better service!!

Yup – you guessed it, against BT :D

A client sued BT for messing him about with his emails FOR OVER 1 YEAR!
He asked me for details of the conversations I had had with BT and what the issue was (all to be provided in English – no Jargon :( )
This eventually went to court.
The Judge said ”Your technical guy went into detail about the problem and even indicated a potential issue with BT’s billing”
This meant my evidence was the most persuasive :D
My client received £300 + costs :D

I got me a bottle of Whisky as a thanks too

Zero to Hero

Bit of an odd one today…

Started out with nothing in the diary – looks like I’ll have time to design our brochure then…
Nope
At the weekend a client managed to break a PC, off we go to sunny Leeds city centre.
This actually worked out quite well as Tor needed to drop off a new TFT monitor to another client in the city centre and parking there is a costly adventure.
I fix PC at one client, Tor drops TFT at another (I can park at my clients office)
Sweet!!

Whilst ‘doing it’ we received another call requiring my intervention with an uncooperative Blackberry device.
I swooped into an unsuspecting Wakefield with my usual aplomb.
And managed to fix it! Though I’m still not sure how!
Guess it’s just down to my ‘magic fingers’ (steady ladies!!)

Just upon departing the hub of the known universe (that would be Wakefield for those not recognising this), I was called by a client meeting me at our office 5pm+
Oops – forgot
Got there at 17:40, diagnosed a nuked PCMCIA network card and headed for home…

Busy busy busy… (and I still need to settle on a design for our brochure!) :?:
