It’s getting harder to come up with good titles :???:

Anyway – It looks like there’s something in the air, we are getting reports of many people being effected by serious illnesses.
Our thoughts go out to you guys…

‘m off to drink beer just so I feel REALLY bad tomorrow morning ;)
Sadistic and cynical all rolled into one

Legislation

The laws and rules concerning UK businesses are mad sometimes.
The constriction of those rule can (and does!) put businesses into some serious legal situations that may well end up in them closing.
It’s a sad, sad reality in the UK :(

We have recently been learning about the new WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) regulations.
ALL companies, charities not excepted, MUST have a policy in place to dispose of electrical equipment.
Note the ALL and the MUST.
Compliance costs a mere £500 (that is per year and all it gets you is a piece of paper and your name on the list of people who are policed for this!)
It also means that you get to put your WEEE sticker on any equipment you are selling – making you responsible for it’s disposal when it becomes end of life.
You can have a policy putting the onus back to the client for this, but who in their right mind is going to want that?

The result is quite simply, that we are seriously looking at our equipment builds and will have to radically change the way we do them.

And for what? to save the environment? forgive the cynic in me but it looks a lot like another government money making scheme…

it makes me soooo angry – when are the UK government going to have better rules for the smaller businesses?
