Interesting day today…

Stoopidly forgot to check my calendar – safe in the knowledge I had a ‘free’ day in the office…

WRONG!!

Booked to go to a clients at 10:00 – phone call at 11:30…
“You have forgotten haven’t you?”
Ooops! :oops:
Doh, Me’s stoopid…

Still, at least they were very forgiving types and I did sort them out for nothing!!
(as a result of my ‘senior moment’)

Spoke to a new client this afternoon – we have been chasing her about for a day or two.
She wanted to have statistics on her website.
A quick conversation ensued and voila – webstats within the hour!! :)
Truely amazing!
Now we are going to discuss the future of their website – In Dorset (270 miles south from here…)
Looks like a company sponsored holiday… :)

Helen, if you are reading this, you certainly qualify as our most distant client :laugh:

Spent the entire day building a ‘pre built’ server.
We get all our systems custom built at a supplier – Nothing unusual about that you might think.
This server was ne exception – config’ed and ordered as usual – delivered on time – Client wants the install on Friday so we decide ‘just to check’

Bloody good job too !

They had not installed the operating system fully and, as it was the Small Business Edition of Server 2003, it took HOURS to get it finished

A long and tedious job…

Still there was an upside…
Tor rang said suppliers and went NUTS :crazy:
Very amusing from a 3rd party viewpoint.
She was sooooo calm for the rest of the day it was almost unbelievable!
Peace reigns!

Also found out from a friend, Simon os more popular than Andy on Google :laugh:
Also, there is a Simon school at the Rochester University!
I’m just soooo popular!

Think I should get some sleep (if my head will still fit in the bed )

Printing errors today – mainly due to the stoopidly over protective Norton Internet Protection suite.
Everytime I come across this little POS (I wont elaborate on that acronym ) it causes several network errors, can’t print, see other network clients etc etc…
The list goes on and on…

Managed a work around – shared the network printer from a static client and connected to that – viola!

Fishy problems today too…
One of our surviving baby fishes died
6 more eggs arrived :)
Purchased a new ‘hatchery’ and deposited the new eggs in it – lets see how we do…
We have over sexed fish :laugh:

Sometimes something happens to make you smile…

Today (after rushing out to Halifax to fix a dead server – UPS failed) I trolled across to te other side of Leeds to see a client based at another clients offices (they rent space).
There are currently 3 clients based at these particular offices.

Whilst working there both the other clients wandered across to say ‘Hello’ and for a brief session of witty banter. I liked it!!

It’s nice when people just wander over to say hi. It makes the day go soooo much quicker!
Also leaves the clients with a sense that you really are a person – and that SOME techies can communicate…

Very funny afternoon was had by all :laugh:

Can’t believe I have missed an entire week!
It’s been quiet too…
Oops! :plain:

Spent the majority of the week on the Parts 4 site (Here) Still look the same but I have added many background features.
Seems to have taken for ever!

On this coming week we have a new server install – set to revolutionise an Insolvancy Practitioners business. He’s had many problems in the office, with his current system. The new one will take all this hassle away…

Also have another Vaio to install.

Fun fun fun!!

On a more personal note – I finally got a Sat Nav system!
This should mean no more lengthy calls to Tor when I get lost (which I seem to do all too often :laugh: )
I might be able to find places for a change!
Had a quick test on Thursday – to a friends house in Harrogate – It took me right to her door!
Then onto friends in York (where I had a very dodgy pizza and spent the majority of Friday feeling awful)
Tor is testing it this weekend – She’s having a sell earned weekend in the wilds of Derbyshire. I think it worked for her too!

:) Simply amazing…! :)
