Once again the government come up with some harebrained idea – Broadband Tax
The idea being that everyone with a fixed telephone line would pay 50p per month, the proceeds of which would ‘top-up’ the investments made to bring broadband to the masses.
WHAT?!?!?!?!
Why on Earth would I PAY for someone else to get broadband, just because people some CHOOSE to live in a more rural setting?
It seems a little ridiculous in my humble opinion.
Currently I PAY FOR MY OWN broadband – maybe if the people living in those lovely rustic idylls, could do the same?
I guess spending £000′s on your country estate means that you couldn’t possibly afford broadband; After all it’s a MASSIVE £15 per month after all…
[quote]If you read the article, you’ll also note that the figures being bandied around are in dispute anyway – it’s apparently, another painfully inadequate attempt to inject some more investment in to a struggling industry.
Just like the pitifully small car scrappage allowance (you could negotiate MORE than the £2000 offered just by ASKING!)
Gordon (Brown), if you are reading this, make those few people not serviced by broadband at the moment PAY FOR THEIR OWN SERVICES!
Sigh…
When will the government do something RIGHT???
